For years the way to scale a Meta account was to find better audiences. That lever is largely gone. The lever now is creative volume, and understanding why changes how you should spend your money and your time.
The algorithm is a signal machine
Think of every unique creative as a probe into your market. Each ad tests a different angle, a different hook, a different reason to buy, and the algorithm learns from how people respond. When you run five ads, you hand the system five probes. It exhausts what it can learn from them within weeks, frequency climbs, costs rise, and it looks like "Meta stopped working." The account did not break. It went signal-starved.
Why volume beats targeting
Modern Meta finds the right people on its own when given a broad audience and enough creative variety. Manual targeting now limits it. So the constraint moved: it is no longer "did you find the right audience," it is "did you give the algorithm enough distinct creative to find the audience for you." The brands that own their auction are the ones producing the most quality probes.
The angles times concepts model
Volume without structure is waste. We build creative volume from two axes. Angles are the reasons people buy: pain points, desires, objections, identity. Concepts are the ways you express an angle: testimonial, us-vs-them, before-after, street interview, meme, demonstration. Multiply them. Fifteen angles times five concepts is 75 unique ads, which is roughly a month of testing for a brand at 15,000 EUR monthly spend. Around 20% will beat your account average, and those winners are what you scale.
How much do you actually need?
- At ~5,000 EUR/month: roughly 24 ads, enough signal for the budget.
- At ~15,000 EUR/month: roughly 75 ads.
- At 50,000 EUR+/month: 120+ ads.
Below these volumes the algorithm has more budget than signal. Above them, production cost outpaces learning. The full math is in our post on how many ads to test.
The production problem, solved
The reason most brands do not run this volume is production. Making 75 to 100 quality ads a month is hard, which is why we build production formats around volume: statics for cheap angle testing, and street interview ads that produce 40+ unique ads from a single shoot day. The format that produces the most quality creative per hour wins, because it feeds the machine.
